We selected the WIBS system for our seven story building for several
reasons. The light weight framework was a benefit since we were framing
this building on top of a podium slab, and helped us save foundation and
structural costs. Worthington's knowledge of their system and code
requirements and fire rated assemblies was also a plus. Flexibility in
their system to allow for openings in their floor joists to accommodate
other trades was a plus.
We found after we made our decision, theirconstruction management team was outstanding, and provided us with detailed
shop drawings that allowed us to eliminate problems during construction and
save time on our schedule. During construction, Worthington helped us
educate code officials with the various assemblies in their system, and this
also helped us avoid unnecessary delays.
Worthington's superintendent was
crucial to the smooth flow of the job, and was very proactive in getting
engineered fixes to various problems which came up and kept the job moving.
Worthington seems to be open to discuss various ways to be innovative in
finding ways to improve the process and help shave days of their schedule.
Overall, we've been pleased with the experience on our first Worthington
job.
